The West Indies Marine Animal
Research and Conservation Service (WIMARCS) was
organized to protect, recover, and sustain the threatened and endangered
marine animals of the West Indies. Through education, support groups, and
awareness, WIMARCS assists our community, students, researchers, and
government agencies in conserving our marine environment.
Each research and conservation
project and program focuses on specific elements designed to meet the Sea
Turtle Recovery Plans developed by the National Marine Fisheries Service and
the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
A very special thanks to our new contributors and
sponsors!
Based in St. Croix, WIMARCS realizes that marine
resource issues are regional and will support projects throughout the West
Indies, including St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, Vieques, and
the British Virgin Islands.
With the help of the community,
responsible businesses, and government agencies, WIMARCS can support,
encourage, and create the structure necessary to protect and sustain our
marine environment.
Investing in WIMARCS is
investing in your future!
